Food and Shelter


Perry Township doesn't directly offer shelter. Here is a list of resources you might access to get food and shelter. 

Resources for people who need free or reduced price food:

  • Women, Infants and Children (WIC)
    The Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program is a special nutrition program that provides supplemental foods, nutrition counseling, and access to health services to low-income women, infants, and children under the age of five.
  • Food Stamp Program
    The Food Stamp Program provides benefits to low-income people that they can use to buy food to improve their diets. Food stamp recipients spend their benefits (in the form of paper coupons or electronic benefits on debit cards) to buy eligible food in authorized retail food stores.
  • Mother Hubbard's Cupboard – a food pantry with 900 visitors per week. 812-355-6843, 1100 W. Allen St Map and Directions
  • Community Kitchen – a hunger relief organization serving about 400 meals per day from two locations. The main facility is provided by Perry Township at 1515 S Rogers Street, Map and Directions Hours: 4 pm-6 pm Monday-Saturday.
